Long overdue upgrade for our old motorbike headsets. Sena is quality gear and the ability to talk to more of our friends on a ride, and not lose your music when talking were the two major selling points.

Sena 30K

I highly recommend this headset to anyone looking for a reliable easy to use Bluetooth intercom headset for motorcycle riding, it has crisp and clear audio, it is easy to use with gloves on and is safe and secure on your motorcycle helmet it is also sleek and elegant in design. The only major downside to this headset is the installation which can be a bit tedious but once it is installed it is perfect.

Product is great quality, performs as described however the max range is a little.. actually very optimistic. Sounds great nice and loud, intercom is precise and clear. mrmobile offered the best price i could find, shipping was quick and process was easy.

Sena 30K is frustrating and disappointing - Don'

I bought this product specifically for a 5 day / 2000km tour with a friend. It was priced high and advertises plenty of functionality - so i was excited about its potential but the reality of day to day use is very disappointing. The Sena 30K duo was poor and unreliable and the only bad thing about the trip. We got the duo so we could communicate via the mesh. That was the only reliable thing about it. Even that was fussy because you need a (poorly designed) app up and running on both phones to use it. It often required multiple attempts by opening and closing the app to connect before we set off each day. Fitting is fiddly and not tight if you don't have a helmet that the clamp works on. The base juts out below the line of helmet and the unit is large and not as sleek as other systems. My colleague noticed pronounced extra wind noise. The much vaunted bluetooth connection system is actually not very compatible with multiple devices. I attempted to pair it with a bmw navigator 6 (which is basically a garmin) and a smart phone to either stream music and take calls while travelling. It performed neither function well in practice. It could sometimes do one - when stationary - but never both. It does not connect or pair - or importantly stay connected - with both devices at the same time even though the manual says it can. Every day began with a ritual of swearing at the Sena as it was not easy to connect - and would frequently shut down the navigator. This was very annoying when attempting to navigate through new towns and cities. The built in FM radio is a good idea - but clumsy to use and seeking channels is not easy if you are travelling away from usual area. The jog wheel and buttons are not distinct when using gloves. One of the duo units appeared to have a much shorter battery life even though they both started out with the same full charge each day. If I had my time again I would not have wasted my money on the Sena and should have stuck with a cheaper comms unit from Aldi. There are many features on the Sena 30k - but they are not intuitive too hard to access when on the go. From my perspective there are too many functions and not enough functionality. The voice control works occasionally - but not reliably even in a full faced very quiet helmet at speeds of 100kph. We both found ourselves shouting 'hello Sena' many times inside our helmets with no effect. If you want reliable and functional communications, I recommend saving yourself the frustration and purchase another brand.
